Madan B Lokur, the former Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court has been appointed as the chairman of a Judicial Commission constituted by Telangana Government to inquire into alleged irregularities in power purchases during Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regime. He will relieve retired Patna High Court Chief Justice L. Narasimha Reddy.
On July 16, the Supreme Court ordered Telangana Government to have Justice Reddy replaced. The direction was issued by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud after Justice Reddy chose not to carry on as the Commission of Inquiry.
On Monday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that they would announce about a new chairman for this commission by evening. The State Government on Tuesday issued orders appointing Justice Lokur as the chairman of the Commission.
