According to BCCI sources on Thursday, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) will ask the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka because the Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
They have only played each other at multi-team events since India last visited Pakistan in 2008.
Nonetheless, Pakistan hosted last year’s Asia Cup but India won all their games played in Sri Lanka under a “hybrid model” arranged by organizers.
India stated that they were unable to participate in Pakistan for the Asia Cup due to lack of permission from their government.
The eight-nation Champions Trophy tournament is scheduled for February and March next year in Pakistan.
The 1996 World Cup was co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, so this Champions Trophy tournament will be the first major cricket event there since then.
Match dates are expected later on despite that fact that it will take place between February 19th and March 9th.
Before the Champions Trophy, India will play six ODI matches – three with England early February at home and three against Sri Lanka abroad.
