The Champions Trophy will be the highlight of Pakistan’s home season 2024-25, though it is uncertain whether their neighbor India will cross the border for this prestigious one-day international (ODI) tournament that has not been played since 2017.
Since 2008, India has not toured Pakistan and they only meet during multi-team games.
While the Asian Cup was hosted by Pakistan last year, India who were champions above all played all their matches in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model developed by the organizers.
For them, Indian government had claimed non-permission to visit Pakistan for Asia cup match.
Pakistan’s schedule at home was announced on Friday. It involves Tests with Bangladesh, England and West Indies as well as a Tri-series involving New Zealand and South Africa in February of the following year.
However, The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing renovation by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy to be held there from February 19 till March 5.
According to Reuters, “ICC will announce dates and locations of the competition in due course”, reads part of PCB release statement.
Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman PCB indicated that PCB have invited five top cricket playing nations as well as other countries participating in Champion’s trophy within next eight months which shows status of Pakistan on cricket arena being underscored.”
