The final of T20 World Cup between India and South Africa will be held on Saturday and there are concerns that rain may disrupt the game. The organizers have a reserve day to make sure that the match is completed.
How exactly does it work?
They will continue playing the game on Sunday which is the so-called reserve day if Saturday rains prove disruptive, from where it had stopped.
According to International Cricket Council (ICC), “Every effort will be made to complete the match on the scheduled day with any necessary reduction in overs taking place. Only if the minimum number of overs necessary to constitute a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day will the match be completed on the reserve day.”
Conditions for full game:
For a complete match, 10 overs must be bowled to team batting second at least.
Should play start but get halted before completion, then it resumes on Sunday from where it left off.
On this coming Sunday, 8:00 PM IST is when they would begin in case of need for reserve days.
Super Over rules:
If there is a tie game, Super Over will determine who wins.
Subsequent Super Overs shall be played until there is a winner in case of another tie during the Super Over as well.
These Super Overs can go on indefinitely until there is an outcome.
Outcomes for washed out matches: In case of a washout due to continuous rainfall over both Saturday and Sunday without playing even one complete match, India and South Africa shall share honors as joint winners.
