Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali reprimanded Australian spin bowler Nathan Lyon for his overzealous and unfounded comments on who will win the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series between Australia and India.
Speaking on the Meghan T earlier today, Lyon boldly opined that Australia will wipe out its opponents in the series 5-0 which in the opinion of Basit Ali’s Comments was too derogatory for any player of his greatness.
Youtubing out people like Ali described himself did this one clip in which he dared such opinions by stating that most of such stress should be thrown upon former cricket players or analysts rather then active cricketers.
“Let me just say one thing in my head.
Lyon’s Statement. Australia thinks it’s going to beat India, but by six Test matches. In saying that Australia has beaten India, the results of the last two series have shown rather otherwise. This neither suits the age nor the profession of cricket. These are the ones like Ricky Ponting or other cricketers. ‘I have great respect for Ashwin and I have nothing against him but I would rather Ashwin take off follow stumps and ring the players, scoot back and say us India will win over Australia 5-0,” Basit said.
At the same time, we head to Australian batsman like Travis Head who has another dimension to the Indian cricket.
While speaking to Star Sports, Head however spoke of the Indian team (which is led by Rohit Sharma) as a tough ask although he has himself been in good touch against them in the last few.
“For me, they are not my favourite feelings. I just think we play them a lot, play them a lot, and so on. And, well, the last few years, I’ve been in a good shape for the game. So yes, it’s always good to be in a position where you can play well. This is one contest which is not too easy to get up for. This one is incredibly tough. Being in a game to get up is easy. So no, yes, that’s why they are my favourite,” Head stated.
The Border series will commence on November 22 and the first Test match will be held in Perth.
