Officers and staff of Raj Bhavan participated in Sankranthi celebrations here. Ms. Sameera Nazeer, wife of Governor S. Abdul Nazeer distributed prizes to the winners.
Ms. Sameera Nazeer went round the lawns and observed the colourful rangolis painted by the staff. Speaking on the occasion, she said that Sankranthi, the harvest festival, was the most important festival in Andhra Pradesh, and conveyed greetings to the officers.
Secretary to Governor M. Hari Jawaharlal, Joint Secretary Suryaprakash and other officers participated in the celebrations.
Sankranthi Sambaralu was also conducted in many schools and colleges, associations of various apartments, villages and some NGOs on Saturday.
The organisers arranged ‘Potella Pandelu’, ‘Banda Lagudu’, ‘Bull Shows’, kite festivals, cock fights and other games on the occasion. They displayed the paddy stocks, sparrow nests, bullock carts and the traditional foods like ‘ariselu’, ‘boorelu’, ‘bobbatlu’, ‘garelu’, ‘sunnundalu’ and other dishes during the celebrations.
Villagers were seen participating in Sankranth Sambaralu by wearing traditional attires. The organisers made elaborate arrangements for the celebrations.
