Later, the Congress party clarified its position, saying that inciting these remarks was an attempt to divert attention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “malicious” poll campaign.
Pitroda also clarified that he was only using the U.S. estate tax as an example in normal conversation on television. He emphasized that his remarks had nothing to do with the policies of any political party, including the Kuomintang.
