Sonam Kapoor is the first Indian star to publicly express her views on political matters. On instagram she posted about the recent happenings in Bangladesh saying it was ‘terrible’. There have been demonstrations and rioting in Bangladesh since last month when students groups demanded a controversial policy that prioritizes certain communities at the expense of others.

Sonam reposted The juggernaut’s Instagram post which recounted how 66 people died in one day amid violent clashes. “This is terrible. Let us all pray for Bangladeshi people,” Sonam wrote. The injured and fatalities are now over 100.
On Sunday, police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse tens of thousands of protesters, killing at least 91 protestors and injuring 100 more. A statewide curfew took effect from Sunday evening, train services were suspended and the country’s huge textile industry was shut down
This became a protest that aimed at ousting PM Sheikh Hasina who won a fourth term after boycotted polls in January.
Sunday’s death toll reached a record high for any day as far back as July 19, when there were 67 dead including at least thirteen policemen during student-led protests against quotas.
The government announced a curfew starting from Sunday at six o’clock pm till dawn tomorrow; this will be alongside three days general annual leave starting from today.
