India’s cricket stars, Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh Thakur are on the rise in the latest ICC T20I rankings with Mandhana moving up to fourth among batters and Thakur reaching fifth among bowlers. These strides have been a result of their exceptional performances during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup matches.

India opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is now on 743 rating points; she reached this milestone after hitting a crucial 60-run knock in their final match against Sri Lanka.

Renuka Singh Thakur also was outstanding at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. She took seven wickets, pushing her up four places to reach fifth on the bowlers’ list with 722 rating points. She trails England’s Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, India’s Deepti Sharma and Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal only.

Radha Yadav has also made notable progress as he rose by seven positions to 13th place. In the Asian cup she took six wickets which helped her become one of five maximum taker of wicket for tournament participants.

Australia’s Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath continued to lead the baters’ ranking list; West Indies’ Hayley Matthews came third while South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt sixth.

Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu is the biggest gainer in these rankings as she moved three positions up into sixth position with a total of 705 points. The Sri Lankan captain who scored 61 runs in finals against India became player of the tournament after accumulating a career-best ranking score of 304 throughout that competition.

Other notable movements include Pakistan Muneeba Ali who moved 6 places up to be ranked at number thirty-five among T20I batters.Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh) who captained Bangladesh rose three slots higher taking 14th position. Also, Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama rose to the 20th position after scoring 69 not out in the final.

These rankings demonstrate the enormous talent and huge contributions that these players had on their teams during the recent Women’s T20 Asia Cup.
