India’s new T20 captain is Suryakumar Yadav for the forthcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka that begins from July 27. This occurs after Rohit Sharma decided to retire from T20I cricket after winning the T20 World Cup by India, creating a gap in leadership.

The captaincy is different slightly geared. He played 2024 World Cup with players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja who are top players in world cricket. We get lot of learning playing with such cricketers,” Aswalkar said.
Suryakumar has been leading India before getting appointed as captain in their 4-1 win over Australia and their 1-1 draw with South Africa during T20I matches this year. His rise to prominence marks an important event in his career which recognizes his leadership qualities and experience.
His assistant captain for the upcoming series will be Shubman Gill. Gill had recently captained a young Indian side during the five T20Is versus Zimbabwe.
The Pallekele stadium will host the first match of the three links between Sri Lanka And India on July 27 while three ODIs will start off at Colombo on August 2 following them .Yadav’s new role would be under close scrutiny as he leads team through this crucial series.
