Days after the first Test against Bangladesh, the Indian team began to gather in Kanpur for the second Test against Bangladesh after quickly taking a 1-0 upper hand in the two-match series with a comprehensive victory in Chennai. Meanwhile, in a video circulating on social media, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were being welcomed at the hotel where the team is housed with ‘oops’ moments for one of the staff members while welcoming Kohli.
As has presumably become the norm, some top officials of the hotel appeared to have assembled to welcome the players. Exactly when to one of them handed a bouquet of flowers to Kohli who responded with a ‘thank you’ , another of the official’s extended his hands asking to shake Kohli’s.
But with one hand holding a bag and the other a bouquet, Virat Kohli replied, “Sir, do hi haath hain (I have two hands only),” and moved past them.
Prior to going to Kanpur, in this match which was played in less than four days, India realized an impressive victory over Bangladesh by 280 runs, after winning the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai where local veteran all-Rounder Ravichandran Ashwin made a century in first innings and six wickets in the last day of the test.
It was then did Ashwin go on to earn the award of player of the match making contribution of all playing in the match.
Also stepping up to be run machines are Pant and Shubman Gill and India were over the 500 mark lead. Ravindra Jadeja has supported Ashwin making a total of 86 runs and clinching 5 wickets in the test.
India’s spearhead of the bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah, managed to take 5 wickets in the match which included one of the four wickets he took in the first innings of Bangladesh.
Virat Kohli, on his part, registered dismal scores of 6 and 17 in his two appearances with bat.
