Ed Sheeran, a well-known musician, has bought a small percentage of Ipswich Town, his local Premier League club that has recently been promoted. The team said on Thursday that Sheeran’s share amounts to 1.4% but he is not joining the board of directors.
The club has confirmed that Sheeran will now have his own executive box at Portman Road Stadium this year because he often attends their home games. The RnB singer’s purchase of part of the team is considered a dream for any soccer enthusiast.
“Really excited to announce that I have bought a small percentage of my hometown football club Ipswich Town,” wrote Sheeran, 33, on Instagram. “It’s every football fan’s dream to be able to say that they are an owner in the club they support and I feel so lucky to be able to do this.”
“I’ve lived here in Suffolk since I was three years old and even though I’ve been around the world and sometimes felt like an alien in big cities, Suffolk and Ipswich have always made me feel like one of them and protected. It’s great being an Ipswich Town supporter,” added Sheehan.
Ipswich against Liverpool will begin their Premiership season at home with a game next week Saturday. In the previous Championship campaign which resulted into final second position placing the team got promoted directly into the top flight.
