The ambitious objectives of Shubman Gill, who is considered the batting mainstay of India, went up in the air in an altogether different manner as well. And managing to survive this test on that day would surely have filled him with optimism, only for it to be snuffed out by a peach of a ball from Navdeep Saini during the Duleeps.
Having already hit three fours and was 25, Gill was looking good.
However, Saini didn’t think the same.
Saini bowled a magnificent ball that had Gill out of the crease and his bails scattered all over the floor.
Playing a quack to the wide delivery, Shubman Gill made a mistake of leaving the incoming ball since he thought it was not going to be threatening. To his surprise, the ball curved sharply at the last point and shattered his initials, leaving him frozen in disbelief at the crease.
Saini, on the other hand, roared after taking the wicket of the star batsman.
Thereafter, Saini was a part of the Indian team which won the Border-Gavaskar series under Ajdisah Rane’s captaincy and is now expected to play for the Bangladhesh Tets series.
The first Test match will commence at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on September 19 and the second one is scheduled for Green Park stadium, Kanpur and will begin on September 27.
