On the night of August 27 August 2024, Shivamogga police raided the Central prison at Sogane situated on the outskirts of Shivamogga. The Nangla Police also launched the operation in response to allegations against some staff members at a Central Prison in Bangalore, that they were placing undue attention on a film actor Darshan and some other prisoners during visitation.
The magisterial team which composed of more than 100 policemen was headed by Superintendent of Police G. K. Mithun Kumar and Additional SP Anil Kumar Bhoomareddy. The officers team checked all barracks of the jail for prohibited articles in all the cells. The entire search lasted for more than three hours.
The sp directed the prison officials and the custody officers to ensure the rules are observed by only and only the restricted articles are not given to the inmates.
