Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday accused the BJP of masterminding the Sandeshkhali incident and claimed a video vindicated the TMC’s stand that the saffron party was behind the incidents.
Allegations of sexual abuse and land grabbing have emerged against TMC leaders in Sandeshkhali in North Parganas 24 district.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Banerjee said: “I never thought politics in Bengal could be so mean for votes… We have been saying from day one that there are shameless attempts to malign Bengal ahead of the elections. .

Banerjee claimed that such accusations by Sandesh Khali had damaged the honor of Bengali women and he felt that they were aimed at defaming the country.
He asked the top leadership of the BJP to apologize within 48 hours for “defaming” Bengal by Sandesh Khali.
The TMC national general secretary also wanted to know what Prime Minister Modi, who had mentioned the Sandesh Khali incident many times at election rallies, will now say.
Responding to the TMC’s allegation, Adhikari said: “This is a fake and doctored video. The TMC seems to be sensing the defeat (in the elections) and is trying to divert attention.
