India thrashed Bangladesh in the first Test match of the two-match series to win the series 1-0. Leading the visitors by 515 runs, the hosts bowled out Bangladesh for 234 for a massive win by 280 runs at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Ravichandran Ashwin, named Player of the Match, was brilliant with the bat, making a century, and with the ball as he ripped through the opposition for 6/88 in the match.
In the game, Shubman Gill also made fun of Mohammed Siraj, and there was some banter in between and that was entertaining.
Shubman Gill was seen mocking Siraj that “Mohammed Siraj official ID hai, baaki ki sab fake hai” while playing on the field.
This prank is referenced to an old Instagram video Siraj uploaded before making his international debut wherein he explained that out of all the accounts linked to him, there is only one official account and others are spoofed ones.
India takes a 1-0 lead in the series with this win and now will attempt to build on their lead in the second test which is set to begin on September 27 at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.
At present, India is placed at the number one spot of the ICC World Test Championships points table having played 10 test matches this season with seven wins, two losses and one draw.
Following the Test series, India and Bangladesh will play a three-match T20I series.
