Ryan ten Doeschate, the former Netherlands international has joined Team India in Sri Lanka as an assistant coach in Gautam Gambhir’s staff.
The pictures below were taken during India’s practice session held at Pallekele prior to the first T20I against the hosts on July 27. Furthermore, Doeschate, who was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) coaching unit under Gambhir’s tutelage as a mentor earlier this year in IPL, has also played for KKR when Gambhir was captaining it.
Abhishek Nayar’s appointment is also a major highlight. He was one of the coaches in KKR team. Nayar is now one of the assistant coaches too.
In a previous Cricbuzz report, Morne Morkel, ex South African fast bowler is highly likely to be picked for bowling coach following his work with Gambhir as Lucknow Super Giants’ Indian opener for two years.
Also, according to the report by Cricbuzz; T Dilip will retain his position as fielding coach.
The three-match T20I series will be held at Pallekele before moving on to three ODIs that are scheduled at R Premadasa Stadium Colombo.
Suryakumar Yadav while lead will take charge in the T20Is for this series and Rohit Sharma will captain in ODIs again.
