Prior to the T20 World Cup games for Team India, captain Rohit Sharma took a jocular moment to take a picture with the NBA cup at Nassau County International Stadium in New York. This was also when he expressed his interest in basketball.
In an Instagram video posted by NBA, Rohit amusingly directed the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy towards Punjabi. The video began as Rohit greeted, “Oh Larry paaji, kya haal chaal” while playfully talking to the iconic NBA trophy.
Rohit’s animated conversation with the trophy delighted fans and added some fun to their serious preparations for the forthcoming T20 World Cup. His witty comments about basketball and general character depicted that he is beyond cricket.
He said in a video, ‘Oh Larry paaji, kya haal chaal?’
The Chicago Bulls player (who ruled American basketball) Michael Jordan happens to be his favorite in this game according to 37-year-old athlete.
“My most favorite of all has always been Michael Jordan and what he did for Chicago Bulls is quite inspiring,” He said.
While joking about it’s weight, he added more humor during his interaction with the NBA trophy.
“And guys like LeBron James, Steph Curry, those are the guys I love watching. Oh, it looks quite heavy. No wonder they’re so big and tall and strong,” The captain of India mentioned.
From June 2nd up until June 29th , ICC T20 World Cup will be hosted by West Indies and USA. In preparation to this eventuality however, Indian men in blue have only one warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1st scheduled for New York stateside.
India has not won any title since then except for winning the inaugural edition of ICC T20 World Cup way back in South Africa 2007
India lost by ten wickets against England during their semi-finals at Australia held previous year (2022). This time around, as they prepare for the next tournament India will be hoping to rectify that and carry back home the T20 World Cup trophy.
