Nathan Lyon, Australia’s ageing spinner recently singled out three Indian batsmen who he thinks will be the most dangerous in the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series.
The first test match of the series will be played at the Perth Stadium on November 22, second test to be played at Adelaide Oval from December 6 onwards, third at the Gabba starting December 14, fourth test (Boxing Day Test) at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 and fifth final at Sydney cricket stadium from January 3.
As per Lyon, the best three batsmen to be on guard against during the series with Australia are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.
Lyon conceded that it would not just be Sharma, Kohli and Pant that Australia would face but the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja ordered behind the three would pose a serious challenge to the Australian side.
Interviewed by Star Sports Lyon said: “Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are probably going to be the three really big ones but then you’ve still got Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Jadeja and who else will come out another five I’m not sure.”
In the month of November, the Indian team will go for a tough tour of Australia for a five-match test series.
Lyon underscored the strength of the Indian batting order.
“However it is a pretty amazing line up they’ve got , so its going to be a massive challenge. As I said, if we as a bowling group are good enough for long periods then hopefully we can make a good attack on their defence,” he added.
