Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian cricket team, and the star batter Virat Kohli are now in Chennai, for the 1st Test of the 2-match series against Bangladesh scheduled to commence on September 19.
The second Test of the series will commence in Kanpur from September 27.
On Thursday night, Rohit was spotted at the airport donning a yellow t-shirt along with the security guards. Kohli was on an early morning flight from London.
Some other important players, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant arrived in the city earlier on Thursday.
The team is coming back after more than a month’s gap before their next game. Aimed at redemption, this time they want to bounce back from the ODI series loss suffered against Sri Lanka in August, under the new coach Gautam Gambhir.
This is the first Test series for the Indian team under Gambhir and the coaching staff. This has WTC points also which are much important.
India is on top of WTC points table with 68.52 percentage points while second place is occupied by Australia which is on 62.50 percentage points. Fourth place is held by Bangladesh with 45.83 percentage points.
The team is training for a packed Test season of 10 matches. This features including a home series against New Zealand and the Border I Gavaskar series in Australia.
