Republican leader of Indian origin Vivek Ramaswamy has criticized US Vice President Kamala Harris by alleging that she has abandoned her Indian origin to suit her political convenience.

When he appeared on Parami News, Ramaswamy mentioned that during running for office in California where the Asian American population is significantly high, Harris relied upon her Indian American heritage, but later she did not focus on that identity anymore.

Ramaswamy who like the mother of Harris’ parents took an emigration from southern India, however said a lot of Indians are offended with regards to this matter. He maintained that this was a controversial move and only served as a distraction to what should have been the main focus of the election –a vision for America’s future.

Anyway, Ramaswamy pointed out that Harris does not have clear plans for America and therefore it would be better if people estimated her candidature based on that rather than ethnicity.

In the United States Presidential Election campaign trail, there has been a debate about Harris’ ethnic background especially after former President Donald Trump questioned her race as he had also claimed she “turned black” after having earlier highlighted herself as an Indian heritage woman.

Replying back to these accusations, “Harris argued about how America is standing at crossroads and between two different views for its future. In contrast, they try to drag us backward; we are progressives fighting forward,” said Trump through his campaign spokesperson.

Harris is the first Asian-American vice president and women of color ever in history whose mother is Indian American while father is Jamaican (Kamala Haris Bio). If she becomes victorious in coming elections then she will become first lady president of this nation.
