As of now, the actor Rajesh Kumar who has been quite engrossed in the promotion of his recent film Binny And Family, shares a very specific and personal detail of his life. While talking to Siddharth Kannan, the actor shared the tough times of his life when he took up agriculture which resulted in him incurring debts of more than Rs 2 crores.
Rajesh Sharma Recalls Farming Dreams to Financial Hardships
Rajesh Kumar disclosed that on reigniting a career which focused on him being in the agriculture sector, he had a hard time earning enough capital support. Even though respectable number of colleagues were approached for help, more than half rejected him, though a few did take him up as their client. Referring to this in the past, Rajesh recounted that, “I had more than 1.5 crore of loans after I decided to become a farmer. As most of my family and friends spent the entire year most in this journey, which I must add was the hardest time of my life. I owed explanations to those from whom I had borrowed: family members, farmers, and my wife. Plus tons of others.”
The venture, however, not surprisingly did not go as well as expected, and Kumar had to take desperate actions in order to feed his family. He remembered of how he would go and hawk vegetables at his sons school to raise money. “My son would tell his teachers to purchase vegetables from me,” Rajesh stated.
Rajesh Kumar Finds Inspiration in Amitabh Bachchan’s Story
In such a turbulent period, Rajesh’s comfort and inspiration came from an out of the ordinary source: Amitabh Bachchan’s story. Kumar saw video in which Bachchan described the time when he was out of funds and explained his re-entry into movies. Rajesh explained, “That inspired me and made me think, no, I have to come back. Otherwise, I will be dead, with a debt of about 1.5 crores to 2 crores. I spent five years like this. All my savings were gone. I was earning just 70, 000 rupees a month.”
It was after a grueling five year wait that he Rajesh Kumar returned down the lane of glitz and glamour. Not long ago, he was summoned to attend the second season of Jeetendra Kumar’s web series Kota factory for the part of maths teacher. Announcing his new project Binny and Family, he has recently include Anjini Dhawan in his Renections along with her debutant Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Charu Shankar and Naman Tripathy.
