The white T-shirt has been Gandhi’s ‘trademark’ since Kanyakumari to Kashmiri Bharat Chodyatra
Why does Rahul Gandhi always wear white T-shirts? The Congress leader had not one but two reasons – it conveyed “transparency” and “simplicity”.
Gandhi answered a few such light-hearted questions in a more than two-minute video posted by the Congress on its social media channels.
In the video titled “A Day in Karnataka Campaigning”. Some quick questions and some very distinguished company,” Gandhi also said about his views on the importance of ideology.
“In my opinion, you can’t move to power as a large organization without a clear understanding of ideology. We have to convince people that our ideology is pro-poor, pro-women, diverse, treating everyone equally ,”He said.
“Struggle at the organizational level, at the national level, is therefore always about ideology,” Gandhi asserted.
From Kanyakumari to the Kashmiri Bharat Jodo Yatra, the white T-shirt has always been Gandhi’s “trademark”.
When asked why he always wore it, Gandhi said: “Transparency and simplicity, I just don’t care much about clothes. I prefer simplicity.” When asked about the best part of the campaign, he quipped: ” When the campaign is over! ” Gandhi said he has been on the road for 70 days starting from the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which he clarified was not a campaign but involved more rigorous work.
He said in the video that he enjoys giving speeches during the campaign because it “makes people think about what the country needs.”
In the film, Gandhi also asks Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge what he liked or disliked during the campaign.
“There’s nothing bad about it. It’s good because we’re doing it for the country. For those who are destroying the country, when we try to stop them, we feel good.
