The public outcry for justice over the killing and rape of a 31-year-old medical intern in Kolkata has seen Preity Zinta join others in raising their voices. Nationwide massive demonstrations have erupted calling for stricter measures to safeguard women.
Preity Zinta finally speaks on Kolkata rape case: “Government should prioritize women’s safety”
Preity Zinta also penned a long letter demanding justice for the victim. “We shall focus on women’s security as a government policy.“…we are the fifth largest economy in the world… ”Male voter turnout was about 66% with women expected to take over men voters next election. WOMEN’S SAFETY must be PRIORITIZED by the government at this time. It is heart-rending & disgusting to see rapist’s face hidden/covered when arrested, while rape victims & victims of violent sexual crimes get their names leaked in media. Justice is never immediate, punishment is not heavy enough and no one gets held accountable.”
She added further, “So many women die and they lose their dignity too it doesn’t matter until it happens to you.”
“WOMEN’S SECURITY MUST BECOME A POLITICAL ISSUE FOR ALL WOMEN.” It’s time those responsible for covering up or mishandling sexual violence cases stopped being transferred but lost jobs instead.
Being a woman, I’m sorry Nirbhaya, Moumita, & every single girl who has been wronged. I failed to fight hard enough for you before. SORRY ABOUT THAT!
“UNTIL ALL ARE SAFE NONE OF US WILL EVER BE SAFE!”
