Indian PM Narendra Modi congratulated shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh on their bronze medal win in the 10m mixed team event at the Paris Olympics yesterday.
He expressed his satisfaction for their achievement, as well as his pride in them, pointing out the skills they employed to succeed.
On X, he tweeted: “Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Olympics. They have displayed tremendous skill of late. This is sheer joy.”
Additionally, Modi lauded Bhaker’s consistent performance. “This is her second Olympic medal; she has steadily been an excellent shooter,” he said.
The Indian pair comfortably saw off a stiff challenge from South Korea’s duo with a final score of 16-10 that earned them the bronze.
This victory marks India’s second medal so far at these Games and it is also one with significant historical importance for Bhaker, who becomes Independent India’s first ever double-medalist at any Olympics.
Earlier on that day in New Delhi, she had won her 2nd bronze of this edition of Games having placed third in women’s 10-meter air pistol competition held over there.
Throughout the competition it was clear that there was strong synergy between Bhaker and Singh, with each complimenting the other; while putting up a very cool display by Bhaker, Singh provided support when needed most.
With this result being testament to hard work and dedication from both Bhaker and Singh, India shooting squad has left globe amazed.
