An amount of ₹1,939.35 crore has been released by the government of Andhra Pradesh as payment for pension to be given to 65,30,838 pensioners in the state.
The instructions were issued by the government for disbursement of pension for May 2024 payable in June 2024. Social Security Pensions will be disbursed through two modes including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Door-to-Door disbursement.
Shashi Bhushan Kumar, Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development on Friday said that DBT mode would cover 47,74,733 pensions (73.11%) while the pension amount would be credited to the pensioner’s account on June 1. Pensioners have liberty to withdraw cash at their convenience.
He further disclosed that Door-to-Door disbursement will account for 17,56,105 pensions (26.89%). All village/ward secretariats have drawn cash on May 31 and will start door-to-door disbursement of pension from June 1 which will continue up to June 5 as added by him.
Sufficient arrangements have also been made by issuing necessary instructions to District Collectors and banks so that they receive their pension without any hardship or inconvenience or delay at all and those who are following the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) must adhere to it as per Shashi Bhushan Kumar.
