According to the PCB, senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi have all had their requests for No Objection Certificates (NOCs) denied in relation to the Global T20 League because of a packed international cricket calendar occurring from August 2024 to March 2025. The central point emphasized by the PCB was that these players were vital for the forthcoming matches they expected to participate in.
While other players had sought NOCs from the PCB for this year’s Global T20 event, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi.” The board said.
However, after taking into account Pakistan’s busy cricket schedule from August 2024 until March 2025 with nine ICC World Test Championship matches and ICC Champions Trophy 2025 next year and following consultations with three players as well as national selection committee it has been decided not to grant them permission, Pcb added
The Canadian league is scheduled between July twenty five and eleven August. In its message to media outlets on Saturday evening the PCB underscored that workload management was key for these three cricketers who are expected to play numerous matches in coming months.
These three are multi format cricketers who will be required over eight months thereafter Pakistan is scheduled to play nine Tests, fourteen one-day internationals and nine T/20 games,” read the statement. “Considering this, based on our workload management approach we feel that it would be more appropriate if these players miss Canada event so that they can be fresh-mentally and physically-at the start of our upcoming season which consists of two Tests against Bangladesh.”
The Hundred which starts on July twenty two will see Naseem Shah absent due to similar grounds given by PCB.
On contrary board issued NOCs of Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed,Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Nawaz after assessing their roles in the team as well as overall workload management approach.
