After falling to the lowest ratio of lowest rating points which Pakistan has witnessed since the beginning of 1965, Shan Masood’s squad has also tumbled down to occupy the eighth position in the ICC Test rankings following the first ever series defeat to Bangladesh.
The two Test matches took place in Rawalpindi, in which Pakistan lost the first by ten wickets and the second one by six wickets.
“Pakistan’s standing slumped rather dismally as the country lost two places to be ninth at the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings after bowing to shock series defeat to Bangladesh in their backyard,” the ICC added whois Paid by PTI
“Before the series, the hosts occupied the sixth position in the rankings table, but subsequent defeats have seen them slip below the 8 weight point mark to 76, and below the West Indies.
Despite having 76 rating points, this is the lowest rating points Pakistan have ever scored in the History of Test rankings table except those instances when Pakistan was excluded from the ranking for not playing enough matches in which.1965 is the last year.
The 185 scored by the tigers was also the 3rd highest chase seen by a visiting team on Pakistani soil in the 2nd Test as well, however the tigers saw limited gain in leaps.
In the case of Bangladesh, they acquired 13 rating points but still came in behind Pakistan with ninth position.
Bangladesh is ranked fourth in the World Test Championship Cycle 2023-25 behind the leaders India, Australia and New Zealand as the pride of Bangladesh has been consolidated by winning the 2-0 series to give Bangladesh a rise in the ranks in the competitions.
Before their collapse, Bangladesh managed three wins and three losses in a total of six Tests, and so earned 45.83 percentage points and a total of 33 points. They will now turn their attention to a two-Test series with India which commences in Chennai on September 19.
