After falling to Bangladesh by 10 wickets and incurring an over rate penalty in the first Test of the series played in Rawalpindi. The Pakistan cricket team has dropped to the eighth position in the World Test Championship standings.

At present, Pakistan possesses 16 points with 22.22% winning percentage which is above the Caribbean’s.

It’s tough loss for Pakistan against Bangladesh, which also bore the brunt of a six-point over rate penalty. During the match, Pakistan fell six overs behind the stipulated restriction that was issued for the match. Bangladesh achieved its historic victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi making this their first Test win against them. This victory brought Bangladesh to seventh position in the WTC reviewing rankings with 21 points. Hence, Bangladesh has now won 2 of their 5 matches of the ensuing WTC cycle.

The reason for this is that both teams received penalties for slow over rates. Bangladesh losing three points having been three overs short.

With 74 points and 68.52 percent wins, India is leading the charts with 6 wins in 9 matches in the WTC.”

The second Test match between the Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to be held on Friday in Rawalpindi. The upcoming match will have Pakistan looking to enhance their standings and lessen the impending sanctions.
