On Wednesday, authorities revealed that a beauty store near the Empire State Building in New York was selling stolen goods macy’s department store and others worth more than one million dollars.

Prosecutors claim that inside the “Beauty and Fragrance Store” called Rehana Cosmetics were hundreds of boxes filled with items not normally associated with such establishments; designer purses, over-the-counter drugs such as kitchen ware Among other items. “As part of our multi-pronged approach to prosecution, we can achieve lasting results against retail theft that ensure our store associates remain safe, eliminate the economic incentives connected with stealing and reselling stolen items while enhancing the commercial vibrancy of this industry,” he said.

According to a statement given to CNBC by a Macy’s representative, “We appreciate law enforcement efforts and Manhattan District Attorney’s Office regarding this matter.”

“Our partnership with law enforcement is core to our strategy for stopping organized retail crime (ORC) gangs who are stealing and then selling online these pilfered goods.
