Marnus Labuschagne has become a sensation for Glamorgan in T20 Blast competition by taking an amazing one-handed catch that saw Ben Charlesworth of Gloucestershire being dismissed thereby making the headlines. While they were not able to win their last ball thriller against, on Thursday, all eyes were on Labuschagne’s stunning catch.
With the tenth over starting and 96 runs needed off 66 balls, Charlesworth attempted to hit England bowler Mason Crane’s spin. What followed was that the shot did not go far enough and at first Labuschagne appeared miles from where the ball landed but committed himself to a dive and caught it with his right hand.
Labuschagne celebrated by jogging off and holding the ball up in his hand. Quickly surrounding him in jubilation were his Glamorgan teammates.
“Oh! That is unbelievable. That is one of the greatest catches you will ever see,” said an astonished commentator.
The co-commentator added, “Oh my goodness. That is incredible. What a catch that is, one-handed, full stretch. Brilliant catch.”
Despite losing narrowly to Glamorgan, Labuschagne’s brilliant fielding display not only reflected his athleticism but also became a talking point cricket world over.
