The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Thane, Palghar, Pune, and Pimpri-Chinchwad, announcing all of these will be shut on Thursday (September 26, 2024) after the city was battered with heavy rains on Monday-August 25 resulting in flooding of portions of the city, completely stopping local trains, and forcing the conduct of at least 14 inbound flights to be redirected.
This advice has been echoed by authorities from the Mumbai Civic Body and the police to all persons residing as well as those commuting within the Mumbai city junction and its suburbs.
