New Delhi: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) kings Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday after an absolute annihilation of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by Sunriser Hotel Hyderabad (SRH).
Some senior professionals in the club are said to be unhappy with Hardik Pandya’s style of leadership due to a decrease in team spirit during the IPL season.
According to The Indian Express, a meeting was called for by veterans such as Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav because they felt that there were deeper issues that needed to be addressed.
With a new captain being brought in now after a decade under Rohit Sharma at the helm of Mumbai Indians, it is certain that this will lead to some rifts within the dressing room.
An official of Mumbai Indians has identified their recent poor form as the reason behind their current situation. The report quoted him as saying, “These are typical teething problems when a team’s leadership changes. This is common in the sports world.”
Pandya commented after MI lost to Delhi Capitals; however, he targeted Tilak Varma and simply wrote Axar Patel knows nothing about cricket. Varma topped his team’s batting averages for 2022 with 63 runs off 32 balls including one magnificent innings but this did not go down very well with the team at all.
While Mumbai Indians have played more matches than Gujarat Titans at present, they occupy ninth position on the points table. It is crucial for management now that their side is out of playoffs hence any pending issues must be sorted out without delay so that an easy win could be achieved for their sixth IPL title.
