According to Ahmed Shahzad, a Pakistan cricketer, Mohsin Naqvi ‘s management of the team following the team’s dismal performance and the 10-wicket embarrassment to Bangladesh in the first test over forever in Rawalpindi was way out of line.
Shahzad was issuing his sentiments towards Naqivi’s leadership abilities, recently criticizing him for making poor managerial political decisions that led to the country First losing history to Bangladesh in test matches.
Upon the X Platform, the Umraah Shahzad complained about loss to them and Naqvi’s mind/guts/ability to tactically outmatch rivals, desperation mentality. Ahmad tweeted, ”This is what happens if you don’t make changes in time. You got scared (nope no decisions for you) and you did not make decisions.”
The other comment that Shahzad made is the statement regarding Naqui and his coming to power as the head of the PCB this year. “It was narrated to me that when Mohsin Naqvi took the chair of the PCB he was so dominant, intelligent and flexible that one could even dare to cross his way. It was being said that if Someone can Bring about a change in PCB, than that would be Naqvi. But it has not happened as yet and whatever he has done more than this am very clear that Mohsin Naqvi knowledge of cricket is absolute zero,” Shahzad penned.
Naqvi assumed the control of PCB with loads of promises once Pakistan crashed out in the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024, especially after the defeat to the Indian team. That, Shahzad asserted, has not happened: Naqvi has not brought about the changes that were promised.
“When you lost to India in the T20 World Cup 2024, in order to pacify the TELEVISION audience, you claimed that you are going to do a surgery on Pakistan cricket. But you did not do it. People like all of you hoodwinked the people; this is how the history has been. What did you guess? That you will buy time? That once you beat Bangladesh in the Test series people will quite a bit and then you will go about making changes but that didn’t happen,” he said.
The defeat has refocused attention on Pakistan’s cricket setup which will mean an 0-4 Test loss for the second time in a successive series having already been thrashed 3-0 in Tests during the earlier Australian series this year.
The last time they played a home Test match and won was against the South African side earlier in the 2021 year. Such ongoing problems have been a cosmetic smokescreen to the fans and commentators who have become increasingly impatient about where the team is headed under the current organization.
Shahzad ventured the constraints of some of the egos within Pakistan cricket and looked rather tired about any political movement in the sport’s management.
“Let me put it as it is… the overhauling party that came in 2010 and started running Pakistan cricket is still in power, calling the shots. It has brought to the glory that Bangladesh beat Pakistan for the first time in a Test match. This is something amazing, an amazing statistic I must say. I have never seen this in my lifetime,” he commented.
