LA Knight Riders collect two valuable points to keep them alive in the hunt for the 2024 Major League Cricket playoffs with a four-wicket win over the Seattle Orcas at Church Street Park in Morrisville on Wednesday.
Batting first after winning the toss, Seattle Orcas were restricted to 142/6 despite a 52-ball 89-run blitzkrieg knock by Ryan Rickelton, who smashed 6 sixes and 7 fours.
The target was chased down by Los Angeles Knight Riders with Unmukt Chand’s 62 off 47 being the highest.
It is their first win of this year as they had lost their previous two games. For now, they stay at bottom of the table, another loss meant that Orcas will remain there.
A moderate score was being chased by LA Knight Riders; all it required was a few decent partnerships and one great innings which they did get. It featured Chand and Jason Roy in the beginning and towards its end Saif Badar played a handy cameo appearance.
However, Chand played an important inning. He brought his team into a position where they might be called favorites for this match, and Saif Badar finished it off.
Los Angeles Knight Riders’ captain Sunil Narine flopped but Roy and Chand’s second wicket partnership of 58 put their team ahead.
On the other hand, Orcas bowled well even until Harmeet Singh, Lungi Ngidi, Cameron Gannon and Keemo Paul tried really hard. But they were just ten or twelve short at bat from what was needed.
At once Orcas had been eyeing upon making about hundred seventy runs but it didn’t happen due to those last overs.
