India has chosen Tushar Deshpande who is a right-arm fast-medium bowler, as he will be making his T20I debut in place of Avesh Khan, another pacer for the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe held in Harare on Saturday.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler had played four seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he claimed 42 wickets from 36 matches.
“Happy very much to be here. It all goes back to my childhood days when I dreamt of playing for my country.Being here wearing the blue feels very proud. Means a lot to me. The atmosphere is really great here. Playing for CSK in the IPL helped me. That experience will surely help me in the internationals. I started as a batsman, so that comes naturally to me, looking to refine it and I have been working on it. Overall the atmosphere in the team is chill,” said Deshpande after being handed his cap.
This means that this ongoing series has already seen Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Sai Sudharsan all make their debuts with India’s fifth player also joining them today.
Shubman Gill, captain of India in this series called wrong and chose to field first during this fourth T20 International versus Zimbabwe on Saturday in order that they might secure five-match series.
A doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday will close off the five-match T20I series between India and Zimbabwe. In their first T20I loss against Zimbabwe under Shubman Gill’s leadership, India initially relied on youth and talent; however they quickly regrouped to register a thumping 100-run win in game two.
For their third T20I match against Zimbabwe experience players such as Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal were add to the Indian squad. That move really worked for India as they won the game by 23 runs and took a 2-1 lead in the series.
Washington Sundar has been a key performer, especially after the powerplay. Following an economy rate of 4.60 during five overs in mid-innings, he is now leading wicket taker along with leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi who also has six wickets each.
