Manoj revealed that misunderstandings among them, personal struggles and work dynamics complexity led to heated arguments and strained relationship in an interview with Siddharth Kannan.

He recalled how a group of protesters tore Hansal’s clothes, vandalized his office and smeared his face with ink, he shared.

Manoj expressed regret over what happened between him and Hansal whom he has deep respect and affection for. “He didn’t know about this but I went to the bathroom and cried when it happened,” he confessed. His anger comes from quarrels with directors like Anurag Kashyap or Ram Gopal Varma. Changing tack can fix issues more efficiently without conflicts arising according to him . Despite their infrequent interactions Manoj said that having considered Hansal as well as RGV and Anurag he has grown personally.
Hansal Mehta also once talked about working with Manoj before giving instances of very bad behavior while on set. Nevertheless, he acknowledged Manoj’s talent and character stating that fundamentally he was good.
