Manisha Koirala received a standing ovation for her role as Mallika Jaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie ‘Mallika Jaanconstitution’. Although the actress executed her part flawlessly and won millions of hearts, she recently unveiled that she had been through hell during filming. For your information, the actress was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent treatment.

The actress revealed that even while shooting “Heeramandi,” she was fighting depression. She said on NDTV, “Having experienced cancer, I know how connected the body and mind are. They are reliable. Even now sometimes I work in depression. Honestly when I was doing Heeramandi It took so much away from me, my mood swings…and I was like ‘after u get through this focus on your health.
Besides, Sanjay Leela Bhansali also understood that she might not be ready to take it up. In another interview with Filmigyan Manisha stated that Rekha was approached for playing the role of Mallika Jaan 18 years ago. However, now she feels very elated when she watches Manisha’s performance in the film. Manisha disclosed to Rekha who had called her saying “Bacha,I prayed that if i don’t do this role ,you should .My prayer came true.You are doing a great job; you have been through so much in your life.”she added,” You brought life into this character.”
