August 22 was the day Indian cricket superstar and wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul’s left his fans in suspense with a social media post.
The line that came after he had been included in the team for India’s One Day International series against Sri Lanka was “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…”
Within a short while, another picture started circulating on his Instagram page, seemingly confirming that he had retired. The image read:
“I take this opportunity to announce my retirement from professional cricket. It is a tough decision to make since I have lived around the game for quite long.”
“My family, friends and teammates along with my fans have always supported and encouraged me throughout my career. Actually speaking, what I have learned during this time has been priceless both on and off pitch as well. Playing with some great individuals made me proud to represent my country.”
“Nowadays, I feel very excited about starting a new chapter of life therefore; I will never forget all the wonderful moments spent in this game. Once again thanks for being part of this amazing journey,” it said.
KL Rahul’s retirement rumors are suspected by many because of large punctuations surrounding message authenticity.
Cricket-wise, he is also expected to participate at Duleep Trophy 2024 scheduled for September 5th.
