Missing the flight to the 2024 T20 World Cup is nothing but a disappointment for KL Rahul. In last year’s ODI World Cup, this sprightly right-hand batsman scored 452 runs in 11 matches at an average of about 75.33, including one century and two fifties. Nonetheless, despite his performance, he did not make it into India squad for the T20 World Cup which was won by Team India led by Rohit Sharma.
KL Rahul’s name was not even considered for the five-match T20I series with Zimbabwe that India won 4-1 under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
Notwithstanding, KL Rahul has been included in the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka commencing August 2 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
On Friday, Rahul took to social media posting a workout video with a two-word message saying “More soon.”
KL Rahuls’ last ODI match came against South Africa in December 2023 while his last T20I appearance was against England in November 2022.
In seventy-five ODIs up to now, KL Rahul has compiled a total of two thousand eight hundred and twenty runs at an average of fifty point three five with seven centuries and eighteen half-centuries.
India will also play three T20Is during their tour of Sri Lanka but have chosen Rahul only for ODIs.
