Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut and a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at the Chandigarh airport have reportedly had a verbal spat. The CISF personnel slapped the MP elect from Mandi Constituency of Himachal Pradesh when she was at the airport.
First statement from Kangana Ranaut after being slapped by CISF personnel: “My concern is about the growing terrorism in Punjab”
Tangana allegedly failed to follow set security procedures such as placing her phone in a specific tray as part of items to be checked during security process at Chandigarh airport. In response, things took another turn when Ranaut pushed one of them resulting into an unusual incident where she was slapped by a CISF constable.
The altercation happened while they were walking towards the security check-in and it was captured on mobile footage. Ranaut took to social media that night with a video on Instagram following reports about the alleged assault.
On the video, she tells her well-wishers that all is well but also accuses CISF personnel of slapping and abusing her during security check. “I am getting many calls from my friends and media so firstly I am safe; I am fine completely; today during security check at Chandigarh Airport an incident occurred; when I came out post-security check, that woman who is CISF asked me to go beyond her reach so that she can hit me with her right hand on my side face. She started bad-mouthing me. When I queried about why she did this, she told me that she supported farmers’ protests. Myself I’m safe but what worries me is increasing terrorism in Punjab how do we deal with it?” said Kangana.

The constable mentioned the ongoing farmer’s protest that lasted for more than 15 months and resulted in abolishing of the controversial farm laws. It was a demonstration aimed at seeking legal guarantee of MSP (minimum support prices) and raising concerns about corporatization of agriculture mostly by farmers from Punjab, Haryana and others.
In the light of this development, the CISF commandant has ordered an enquiry into matter. Furthermore, Ranaut’s aides have informed local authorities indicating that the matter is quite serious and it requires thorough investigation.
This incident happened after Ranaut’s landslide victory in Mandi where she outperformed Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh with a huge margin. She received 5,37,022 votes in her political debut which had her thanking Mandi people as well as making clear of allegiance to PM Modi and BJP.
