Kangana Ranaut, the newly elected MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh has been hitting the headlines with a weird request following her oath as a Member of Parliament. At present she is in Delhi for attending parliamentary session and she is staying at Maharastra Sadan. However, Marathi stated that Kangana did not settle for any ordinary room instead she demanded suite of CM.
Kangana Ranaut asks for accommodation in CM’s suite at New Delhi’s Maharashtra Sadan; sparks political controversy: Reports
This move triggered Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut who took to X (formerly Twitter) to sarcastically suggest that if Kangana believed herself as influential she should be lodged at Rashtrapati Bhavan, but in a big suite. He explained the standard protocol for recently appointed MPs through Marathi stressing out that they are normally hosted in state houses or sadans specific to the states they represent until permanent arrangements are made.
According to Raut, Bihar MPs stay at Bihar Sadan, Uttar Pradesh MPs stay at Uttar Pradesh Bhavan and similarly Maharashtra Sadan for Maharashtra MPs. To him it was not sensible that the newly elected representative from Himachal Pradesh chose Chief Minister’s suite in Maharashtra Sadan but rather suggested Himachal Sadan. “But let it be, she is Kangana Ranaut,” he remark.
In response, Yashomati Thakur formerly Congress minister expressed her opinion stating that this might have been an ignorant request on behalf of Kangana considering her unfamiliarity with the set procedures of parliament. Dismissingly Thakur said, “Since actress Kangana Ranaut is a newly-elected MP, she may be ignorant about the protocols in such matters,” Thakur said dismissively.
