Due to his adaptability to any position in the field, former South African cricketer and Jonty Rhodes Pro Cricket League brand ambassador Jonty Rhodes went on to say that, Ravindra Jadeja is the best fielder in the current era of cricket.
After India lifted the T20 World Cup at Barbados in June this year, this came as a shock because Jadeja, along with Kohli and Sharma announced retirement from Twenty20 international cricket. That is, however, not how Jadeja goes keeping aside such chances as he has given an assurance that he will be available to play for India in ODI and Test Matches. Earlier this month, during the ODI phase of the tour to Sri Lanka, the round the wicket was out of action.
“I have two cricketers Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja as the fielder as my role models. They are the best two fielders in the Indian team but in concern with latest cricket era without any second thought one best fielder who nicked named Sir Jadeja will be Ravindra Jadeja,” Jonty Rhodes said in the background of Pro Cricket League trophy and jersey unveiling.
“Field any cricketer and you know why I consider him the best.” He can be stationed at mid-wicket or at long-on as he can also be at short cover. So quick are his legs that the batter dreads the prospect of the ball going towards him. Hence, even more than taking the catch or throwing the ball, the crucial thing in fielding is how quickly you are able to get to the ball. And here, Jadeja is the best of them,” he added as reporting by IANS.
Jadeja , Mohammed Siraj or Umran Malik will not feature in this season’s preliminary round of Duleep Trophy in 2024-25. The source BCCI let off Jadeja from Team B squad however there was no substitution.
The all rounder is expected to make his return when India play a two match home Test series against Bangladesh in September.
India will play Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Second Test of the twomatch series will be played at Green Park, Kanpur on September 27.
