In a strange turn of events, Ishan Kishan, wicketkeeper-batter as he is, was part of the playing XI for the India C team which played in a round of Duleep Trophy which commenced this Thursday. This came as a shocker owing to the fact, that he had earlier pulled out of the competition due to a groin injury.
This was when the drama unfolded. It is that Kishan was ruled out of the first round of the Duleep Trophy when in fact he was last seen playing for the Indian cricket squad until last year. Following the Buchi Babu invitational tournament, where he got injured the BCCI had announced his injury and had one Sanju Samson replacing him in the D Squad.

When the details of the second round squad were published, Ishan Kishan’s name was missing from the list and there were no developments about his rehabilitation as well. Then on September 12th, to the surprise of fans and cricket analysts, Kishan was put on the playing XI for India C against India B. The second-round announcement had stated no changes in the India C team adding to the surprise.
This came as bush fires over the answer to that compelling left out first who was later consigned to the injury list clamour for were inflamed in the absence of an official release from the BCCI.
Earlier Kishan had taken a break from cricket because of concerns about his mental health, which saw him being omitted from the Indian teams and subsequently lose his central contract. Kishan’s recent century in the Buchi Babu Invitational raised expectations that he is willing to make a comeback.
