IPL Auction 2025 Live: What is Right to Match (RTM) card?
Right to Match (RTM) card has been employed in previous IPL auction. The rule allows former franchise of players to retain their services for 2025 (and beyond?). There is a twist this time around though.
If a team uses their RTM, the highest-bidders will be given the chance to make one final bid if they want to raise the amount. If the player’s old franchise chooses to utilise their RTM on the final bid, then they will successfully bring back the player to their fold.
Example: PBKS splash Rs 15 crore on Rishabh Pant. But his former team, DC, use their RTM to bring him back. Then PBKS will have a chance to up their 15 crore bid. If they were to increase it to Rs 17 crore, DC can only stick with him if they match that figure. Otherwise, the RTM card won’t be counted as ‘used’.
