Musheer Khan an aspiring cricketer from Mumbai suffered a road accident during his stay in Uttar Pradesh. While an account of the crash or the extent of Musheer’s injury is still not forthcoming, it was reported that Kasliwal was traveling with Musheer’s father-cum-coach Naushad Khan from Kanpur to Lucknow, for the Irani Cup tie, when the tragedy struck.
There is even more damage to Mumbai as a result of Musheer’s car accident, a 19 year old is unable to make the Irani Cup tie against Rest of India at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from October 1 to 5. Also, the first phase of recovery for the injuries will take place after the season of Ranji Trophy starts from October 11.
He stated “He didn’t accompany the Mumbai team to Lucknow for Irani cup”. He was probably travelling from Azamgarh, with his father, to Lucknow when the accident happened.”
Hitting 716 runs for 51.14 in nine matches, with three hundreds and one fifty and as a bowler bagged 8 wickets for an average of 26.87 with his left-arm spin, the cricketer, who a week earlier made his Duleep Trophy debut in Bangalore for India B and scored a superb 181 against India A, had been a sensation. He also had a cheery under-19 World Cup also.
In addition to being Sarfaraz Khans younger brother, the young man was expected to be included in the squad of India A’s shadow tour of Australia in winter this year, owing to his good showing for Mumbai in the knockout stage of Ranji Trophy last season (he scored an unbeaten 203 in the quarter final match against Baroda and hit a hundred (136) in the final match against Vidharbha) but now that time frame is very much in question because it remains to be seen how long he would take to recover from the said injury.
Though there was no official feedback from the Mumbai Cricket Association regarding the incident, the selectors of Mumbai are gearing up to replace Musheer who was expected to open the batting line up for the Irani Cup.
