IndiGo, the largest airline in the country, will launch flights to seven more international destinations in the current financial year. This was stated on August 5th by its CEO, Pieter Elbers.
Currently IndiGo operates not less than 2k flights every day and flies to nearly 120 destinations which include over 33 overseas cities.
A few weeks ago, IndiGo announced that it would start services to Jaffna.
Expanding on this point, Mr. Elbers stated that there are plans for more international expansion.
He also said that IndiGo will be adding flights to seven new international destinations before this fiscal year ends; March 31st 2025.
The airline will now have a total of forty plus international destination with these new launches, he added.
With a share of approximately sixty one percent of the domestic market and more than 975 orders for planes, Indigo has become one of the largest buyers of aircrafts worldwide. At the end of June, the company had four hundred twenty two airplanes including eighteen wet leased ones.
In 2027 and in 2025 respectively, it is expected that A321 XLR planes will be delivered and wide-bodied A350 aircraft order placed at their disposal.
