However, according to Cricbuzz, the current head coach of the Indian national cricket team – Gautam Gambhir is requesting for a change allowing former Netherlands international Ryan ten Doeschate to be part of his support staff.
The last say will come from BCCI. Notedly Gambhir supported this Dutchman as a complete professional with commitment towards success of his squad. Moreover, during Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) successful campaign in 2024 VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL), he served as one of Gambhir’s deputies, who were charged with mentoring and guiding players.
Doeschate was KKR’s fielding coach as well as its team in the Caribbean Premier League and Major League cricket.
The board is discussing ten Doeschate’s name already according to the Cricbuzz report though it wants T Dilip to remain the fielding coach. In case this happens, one can think about another position for this man. It should be noted that Abhishek Nayar being one of KKR support staff like others is reportedly on course to become India assistant coach.

By bringing in both Nayar and Doeschate if possible, Gambhir along with BCCI will have made a big gap in coaching squad of KKR.
Last week, Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach. Dravid stepped down after guiding India to their second ICC trophy triumph with victory over New Zealand at Mumbai’s Brabourne stadium on Sunday evening.
