Pakistani premature elimination from this year’s T20 World Cup has not gone down well with the former players and critics, nor the patriotic cricket fans of the country.
Pakistan’s fate against USA was determined after they suffered losses in matches against India and United States as the match got abandoned due to rain.
Pakistan, who were already out of contention, avoided another humiliating loss to Ireland in their final game at the T20 World Cup.
Many have seen clips depicting irate Pakistani supporters destroying their television sets and posting on different Facebook pages while retired cricketers have voiced out their displeasure during live TV programmes.
In Pakistan during a period of despondency, there is a video online where Haris Rauf is apparently been mocked by one fan for his team’s bad performance in the T20 World Cup.
The video shows Rauf walking with his wife along a pavement; it also shows Rauf being taunted by that same person. In anger, he jumps over some shrubs lining up the street as his wife tries to hold him back.
Though I cannot make sense of it clearly through sound, Rauf seems to say about the fan that he must be Indian and then you hear that he replied that he isn’t; he was born in Pakistani instead.
His credit given; 3-4 more passers-by restrain a furious Rauf while one brave young guy faces him off without backing down.
According to local media reports on Monday Babar Azam has chosen to spend his holidays in London before heading back home along with Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan.
