IND vs SL T20, India vs Sri Lanka Live Score: Coach Gautam Gambhir, newly appointed and skipper Suryakumar Yadav will be seeking to exploit the weaknesses of Sri Lanka further in the third and final T20I so that India could pull for a whitewash in Pallekele.
The first two games were won by India who sealed the series making the last match inconsequential to its hosts who might face humiliation.
Sri Lanka one again struggled in their batting performance as they were restricted to just 1/40 after 7 overs. Despite having started strong in both matches, Sri Lanka failed to maintain any momentum which led to their defeat.
Their inability to compete effectively this series has been due to Sri Lanka’s middle order batting collapses with India on the other hand displaying mastery throughout confidently and consistently. In spite of tough moments such as through some excellent bowling performances also from the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur, it managed crucial control points by using better strategies during execution.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fantastic both as a batsman and as a leader scoring 58 and 26 respectively across the two matches. His strategic bowling changes have kept his team in a dominant position. In the opener, India went all guns blazing scoring a massive total of over 200 runs while changing their batting line-up won them game-two by seven wickets thereby clinching them the series.
Vice captain Shubman Gill is doubtful for tomorrow’s game because of fitness issues. After missing out on Game Two due to stiff neck he watched Sanju Samson make only one before being dismissed off what turned out to be an expensive delivery. Having spent time around national team without playing before this T20 World Cup winning squad was finally picked; Samson would love to see things improve now on meanwhile another serious threat Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 70 runs across games.
Despite the top three batsmen namely Pathum Nissanka (111 runs) and Kusal Perera (73) showing promise, Sri Lanka’s performance in the middle overs is still lagging behind. Ravi Bishnoi of India with a figure of 3/26 in the second match also commented on how difficult it was for Sri Lankan batsmen to play against spinners.
Bowlers of Sri Lanka have to improve as well. Expensive figures of 4/40 from Matheesha Pathirana in opening game while looking out for him in death overs is what this team wants from him.
India however, remains unrelenting as hosts face a whitewash. As we wind down series with great individual performances and tactics India seeks for an exemplary end.
